Chiang Mai Gate Market

Just inside the old city's south gate, Chiang Mai Gate Market is a workaday local market that runs a daytime shift selling fresh produce and pre-made curries, then quiets between roughly 11am and 5pm before reopening as a street-food night market until midnight. Stalls here are known for khao soi and boat noodles served in a rich, thick broth, drawing more Chiang Mai residents than tourists compared with the Night Bazaar across town. Plastic stools and folding tables spill onto the sidewalk once the dinner rush starts.
