Cervejaria Ramiro

Cervejaria Ramiro opened in 1956 on Avenida Almirante Reis as a small beer house run by Ramiro's father. Seafood was gradually added to the menu and became the main draw, though the cervejaria name stuck even after wine joined the taps. It belongs to a type of old-fashioned beer-and-seafood house -- cervejaria-marisqueira -- brought to Lisbon by Galician migrants after the Spanish Civil War. Today it is known citywide for its prawns, percebes and crab, served at shared tables under bright lights, with bread rolls for mopping up the sauce.
